Problem
Containers for powders often present the challenge of needing to be emptied before the material can be processed in production. This results in packaging waste and can create cumbersome handling for operators.
Paper bags or Big Bags can tear, contaminate the production area, become damp during storage, or require special storage to protect the bulk materials. Both internal logistics from storage to production and external logistics from the supplier need to be optimized to utilize minimal storage capacity while ensuring that production times are not impacted. Additionally, disposing of empty paper bags or Big Bags requires organization, which consumes space and time.
Solution
The LAB Interchangeable Container is a reusable container designed for transport, storage, and dosing.
When used with LAB’s extraction and dosing technology, bulk materials can be extracted without bridging or chimney formation.
The Interchangeable container serves as a reusable transport solution for both external and internal logistics. It is filled directly at the bulk material supplier and delivered just in time. Upon delivery, it can be transported directly to the production site without the need for complicated storage.
LAB supplies this container for free-flowing, difficult-to-flow, and dusty bulk materials. During transport, a hygienic cover protects the discharge opening. Packaging and disposal costs for pallets, films, or Big Bags are eliminated, benefiting the environment.
The construction of the Interchangeable container conforms to standardized EU dimensions. The loading capacity is 26-28 Interchangeable containers per truck.

Discharge Technology
Depending on the extraction technology for the Interchangeable containers, we offer either a discharge slide or a discharge flap.
Discharge Slide
Ideal for free-flowing bulk materials such as pellets, animal feed, or road salt.
The Interchangeable container can be delivered as a storage container with a discharge slide. When the slide is opened, the bulk material falls into a hopper and can then be extracted manually or automatically.
Discharge Flap
For difficult-to-flow, dusty bulk materials, we offer a discharge flap, which is sealed with a hygienic cover and is particularly used in the food sector for diatomaceous earth.
The Interchangeable container is placed on the LAB extraction station and sealed tightly with a sealing lip. After placement, the operator opens the flap, and the bulk material falls through the discharge opening into the extraction hopper, from where it can be automatically extracted using the LAB conveying and dosing system.
